CAMCON
Technology of Cambridge has won a prestigious Innovation Award, from the East of
England Energy Group, for its energy-efficient rolling swing valve.
Designed entirely in SolidWorks, the high-speed, low energy consumption
and long life characteristics of the Camcon® binary actuator mean
that it has applications in a whole new range of areas, as well as being
a replacement for existing actuator and valve technologies in unfiltered
fluid environments such as oil, chemical processing and water treatment.
Within a few months, CAMCON Technology designers have been able to
quickly learn SolidWorks and create award-winning products.
The innovative binary actuator has the potential to revolutionise
the gas and liquid industries just as the transistor did the electronics
industry.
"Our move to SolidWorks was driven by the considerable benefits
3D offered to our design team and in overcoming the AutoCAD restrictions.
I was also determined that an investment like this would deliver additional
benefits by making use of the SolidWorks software as a marketing and
business development tool to produce sample designs for presentation
and promotional material. Even at this early stage in our experience
with SolidWorks, we have been able to achieve this." Ian Anderson
- Chief Operating Officer CAMCON Technology.
