Royston, Cambridge are market leaders in the technology of flux-cored
wires and welding applications together with a range of semi-automatic
wire feeders, portable automatic machines and fully automatic machines.
Under pressure to reduce development time and cost we knew we could
work smarter and faster by using SolidWorks, yet every time we mentioned
designing in 3D to the boss he shook his head saying "drawing everything
in 3D will take twice as long and you still only get a 2D engineering
drawing at the end of the process". Says Peter Iles of Welding
Alloys.
The reality is very different and in the 18 months since SolidWorks
3D modelling from Innova Systems was installed, it is obvious to everyone
that the opposite is true
The 3D visualisation enables you to 'anticipate' the feasibility
of your design much earlier in the design process, allowing errors
to be trapped and design options to be validated.
The modelling process is as easy as drawing 2D lines and the benefits
are numerous: -
- Modelling the complete assembly saves days of time that would
normally be spent checking drawings manually
- 'Silly' errors are eliminated because we are able to 'virtually'
assemble all components, which reduces product cost
- Everyone understands 3D models. Our sales team have found it much
easier to communicate a concept to a customer especially with movie
files created using SolidWorks Animator facility
- Excellent local support from Innova Systems for training and post
sales support from an experienced and valued partner
