UWG
Of Norwich, Norfolk has selected SolidWorks® 3D CAD and COSMOSWorks® software
from Innova Systems to improve the way new products are developed,
analysed and manufactured.
UWG are part of the Acteon Group of Companies, and specialise in
the design, analysis, construction, structural integrity and project
management services for the Oil and Gas industry
As part of an extensive evaluation, UWG engineers tested the functionality
of SolidWorks and COSMOS on centralisers. Oil from a sub-sea well is
conducted to the surface through a set of concentric tubes called risers.
Centralisers are used to locate these risers in guides that form part
of the production platform support structure. Centralisers are subject
to lateral loads caused by wave action on the riser and may also undergo
axial loading if the centraliser catches on a guide during installation.
SolidWorks® and will be used to improve the design and COSMOSWorks® will
be used for the design validation of Centralisers.
UWG have purchased five SolidWorks Office Premium and three SolidWorks
Office Professional together with COSMOS Professional and Advanced
Professional.
